Yeng Keng

For this trip, we decided to stay in Yeng Keng Hotel. This is a small boutique hotel which is really unique! (Mama thinks looks like a temple) Furthermore, it is centrally located in the backpackers area in Georgetown where good glorious food can be found!

You can access their webpage here: Yeng Keng

This is the front door! The "heritage" vibe is oozing :)

Check in was speedy and fuss free. We booked the Garden Suite on the second level, which is green, more green (for good eyesight) and has a living room outside the room (confused? see below~). The room cost us RM385 per night (inclusive of buffet breakfast every morning). This is definitely a non budget option but we were glad that we chose this place due to its unique "feel" and great location.

Green Door!

Happy loves cable TV! Green Chairs!

Photobucket
It is fully air conditioned, with a fan to improve ventilation. Great place to escape from the heat!

Photobucket
Green walls and green pillows! I swear I did not rip the photos from their website, and I must really give them credit for being able to deliver the standard promised in their website.

Photobucket
The bathroom is really clean. The only down side is that we can surprisingly hear very clearly the conversations (of staff downstairs or neighbours from the houses next to the hotel?) through the window in the bathroom. But issue can be eliminated by closing the bathroom door when not required.

Photobucket
The water pressure of the standing shower is good. I don't bathe, so it is the least of my concern actually.

Photobucket
There is a personal save and loads of storage space provided, which is great!

Another view of the room.

Photobucket
So here is the legendary living room outside the room! The living room leads a fire escape door (very safe) which is (no surprise) green!

Photobucket
Right outside the main door, which means that this area is not air conditioned (there is an overhead fan) :( I need to escape from the Penang heat *shed furs* so I would stick to the room. We did not utilize this area often although we think it is a nice chill out area if not for the heat.

Photobucket
It is shielded from the main corridor by a set of standing shades.

Photobucket
This is the main corridor on level 2. It is really quiet in the day time as everyone is either out or in their room. The common area is seldom utilized.

Photobucket
If I am not wrong, this is a part of Yeng Keng Suite (red theme). The Yeng Keng Suite has an air conditioned living room in the suite.

Photobucket
View from the red sofas. Great for relaxing.

Photobucket
There are newspapers, boardgames available at the common areas and chairs that came right out of Chinese Kungfu movies.

Photobucket
At level 1, there is a swimming pool! Not many people utilize this pool, so it is really a "private" pool. Sun tanning chairs are available too!

Photobucket
Love the color of the pool!

Photobucket
I love this small door. Watch your head (not mine!). Finally something for me!

Photobucket
More chillax areas. I just need a tiger beer to complete the picture :)

Photobucket
There is meeting rooms available. I guess it acts as a temporary storage normally.

Photobucket
They love the front door too!

Photobucket
Silence in the lobby! to maintain the chillness :)

Buffet Breakfast is Yeng Keng Cafe in the hotel. Really nice place too!
